Dexterous Robot Hands: TESOLLO & Shadow
Compare the complete manipulation system: hand, sensing, controller, mounting, software, and repair support. The number of joints alone does not establish useful dexterity.
Measure manipulation as work
Use your own objects in the trial. Record grasp success, slips, object damage, cycle time, and the interventions needed to finish a task. Check the distinction between independent actuators and joints that move together.
Plan for contact and wear
Obtain duty-cycle evidence under a comparable load. Ask how fingertips, cables, tendons, bearings, and sensors are replaced, what each repair costs, and how long the system will be unavailable. A bench test and a full working shift answer different questions.
Include the controls
Confirm the robot arm, mounting, power, communication protocol, sensing, and supported software. High dexterity in hardware still needs a controller that can use it.
